Moti Nandi

মতি নন্দী


Moti Nandi was a prolific Bengali author and mostly known for sports journalism. He was born in 1931 in Kolkata. He was an alumni of the University of Calcutta. He started his career as sport editor in ‘Anandabazar Patrika’ and while working there he wrote wonderful sport stories. He had published numerous sports journals to inspire the youths for taking sports as a career. He published his first story in famous ‘Desh’ magazine in 1957. His best literary work was ‘Koni’. His another famous novel was ‘Striker’, which he published in 1978 and it was also made in celluloid in 2012. His other famous works are ‘Golap Bagan’, ‘Duro Dristi’, ‘Malabika’, ‘Baobab’, ‘Sobai Jache’ etc. His writings were mainly published in Ananda publication. He has been honored with Sahitya Academy Award in 1991 for his lifetime contribution in sports journalism. In addition to that, he was accolade with Ananda Purashkar in 1974. This legend sport lover left for his heavenly abode in 2010.
