Malay Roy Choudhury is a renowned name in the history of poet activists. He has a significant role in the Hungryalism which refers to a renaissance of Bengali literature and Bengali writers. He was born in 1939 in a very progressive family background in Patna, Bihar. In the Hungryalism Movement, he participated with many other famous poets like Shakti Chattopadhyay, Debi Roy, Falguni Roy and so on. He was arrested for his writing 'Stark electric Jesus'. Some of his other renowned writings are 'Jakjam', 'Illot', his autobiography 'Rahuketu' and so on. He refused 'Sahitya Academy Award' in 2003.
