Hasan Azizul Huq

হাসান আজিজুল হক


One of the prolific writers of Bangladesh, Hasan Azizul Huq was born on February 2, 1939 in Burdwan district of West Bengal (Now India). Huq moved to Bangladesh with his family in 1947 after the partition. His novels and short stories often depict the suffering and struggle of the working-class people and farmers. Social equality is something he invoked in his writings. One of the notable features of his writings is that they are experimental in nature. His famous novel ‘Agunpakhi’ brought him several awards. His other literary works are ‘Bidhobader Kotha’, ‘Ai Puraton Akhorguli’, ‘Sabitri Upakhyan’, ‘Phire Jai Phire Asi’, ‘Atmoja O Ekti Karabi Gaach’, ‘Naamhin Gotrahin’, etc. He was awarded with Bangla Academy Literary Award (1970), Ekushey Padak (1999), Ananda Puraskar (2008), Adamjee Literary Award and Independence Award (2019). He passed away on November 15, 2021.
